I was really lucky to have been raised in a family where food was celebrated
and “Table Time” was every night! We enjoyed my mother’s
cooking and had a chance catch up with lots of laughter and good
conversation seven days a week.
Everyone pitched in, traditional family recipes were prepared with fresh
ingredients and new favorites were invented – meals around the family
table brought us together.
Now, twenty-five years later, I find that Table Time is still so important
and yet much more difficult to achieve – life is hectic and there
is less time to shop and prepare those meals that brought us
to the table.
I’ve listened to friends and associates reminisce with their own “table
time” stories and realized that there had to be a way to bring good
food and good conversation back into vogue.
Could it be as easy as providing that extra pair of hands to help shop
and prepare delicious food for those with little time of their own?
I believe no matter our age, we all need to make a genuine effort to feed
ourselves well with high quality natural foods rather than highly processed,
preserved foods.
That is what really prompted me to start looking at how I could help
by doing what I love, cooking!
And so Table Time was born!
The key is to shop and select the freshest ingredients possible, use
what is in season and preferably locally grown to make a contribution
to sustainability.
Trying new fruits, vegetables, grains, seafood, spices encourages variety
and provides new nutrients that your body needs. Even more reason for
you to relax and enjoy your own Table Time.
